THE BALKAN ISLAND

BALKAN 2000 Scenography for the TV ethno music show THE BALKAN ISLAND

The Balkan Island is a musical-scenic project of Belgrade Television based on the idea by Mihail Vukobratovic and inspired by the ethno music BALKAN 2000 by composer Aleksandar - Sanja Ilic.

The orchestration is based on a ethno string orchestra, percussions, soloists on various ethnic instruments, a choir, vocal soloists and the piano, with soloist - author Aleksandar Sanja Ilic. The combination of digital music technology - /samples, loops, synthesizers/, produces a sound which is contemporary, while the atmosphere itself offers experience of times long behind us.

At the filming of THE BALKAN ISLAND all performers participated: The RTS Choir, The St. George String Orchestra, Bora Dugic, Slobodan Trkulja, Nenad Petrovic, Ceca Slavkovic, Brankica Vasic, Pavle Aksentijevic, Darko Karajic, Papa Nik, Tibor Tot, Bane Kljajic, Natasa Jelic, Marijana Kajalic, Goran Veljkovic, Dragomir Milenkovic, Dragan Djordjevic and Ljuba Dimitrijevic, the Mimart Theater Ballet and extras so that at one point there were about 95 performers on stage of the large TV studio symbolizing a stylized island thus exceeding standard TV projects. The program is scheduled for 9 January on TV Belgrade as part of New Year's program.
